Another win for the Men’s Team

Men’s Team Result

Sunday saw another win for the Men’s Team as they easily accounted for South Side Handball Club. After a close first half which ended 9-8, the boys ran away with the game. A strong second half saw the game finishing up with a 31-17 win to our boys. This win marked two consecutive wins for the Men’s Team who now face ladder leaders Saint Kilda Handball Club on Sunday. It was also great to see the return of Michael Locco to the Men’s Team. After playing in our inaugural season, Michael took a break last year to concentrate on his football. We are glad to have Michael back on board in 2017.

Women’s Team Result

Our Women’s Team played a great game on Sunday but with a couple of concentration lapses, were defeated by South Side Handball Club 18-26. There were a number of positive signs for the girls and they will look to bounce back after a bye this weekend followed by the Easter break. The match also saw the debut of Christina Lange who joins the club in 2017. We welcome Christina to the club and look forward to seeing her on the court throughout the season.

Training

After Easter, we are at a new training venue, and the night will also change. From Wednesday 19th April, we will be training at Wattle Park Primary School from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. The Primary School is located at 225 Warrigal Road, Burwood 3125.

We are also still recruiting players for both our Men’s Team and our Women’s Team for the 2017 Victorian Handball League season. If you are interested in playing for Deakin Handball, please email your enquiry to deakin.handball@gmail.com or fill out a contact form on our website.

Finally, good luck to Jarrod Stafford on Sunday who currently sits on 98 club goals. Let’s hope Jarrod can score at least 2 goals to take him into triple figures. In doing so, he will become the third player to reach the milestone.
